Kahlua was a beautiful Tortiseshell Persian. She came to us through the local Humane Society when she was eight years old. Like many Persians, she had polycystic kidney disease - something for which breeders should (but often don't) test their breeding stock. Polycystic kidney disease is genetic, and there is no cure - only treatment. A special diet did wonders and prolonged her life by many years. She died at age twelve from kidney failure. |
